Some places are so deeply rooted in us that one view can bring back a lifetime.

Bint Jbeil is one of those places. Nestled among the mountains of Jabal Amel, the city unfolds like a beautiful plate resting between the hills, glowing in the light of sunset.

Some say it was once known as Bayt Al Shams, the House of the Sun, while others call it Ain Al Shams, the Eye of the Sun. The origins of these names remain uncertain, but looking at this view, both feel fitting.

From the hills of Maroun Al Ras, near the Palestinian border, you can see the grand mosque, the schools, the upper and lower souks, and the Qalaa neighborhood. Unlike our other Bint Jbeil prints, this one brings the city together in a single view.

It began with a granddaughter who wanted to honor her family.

She imagined Bint Jbeil at sunset, with the words Capital of Resistance, a name deeply meaningful to its people. We worked through several revisions until the details felt right.

Her parents loved the finished artwork. But when her grandmother saw it, she became emotional.

She recognized the mosque and remembered the city where she had raised her sons and built a life with her husband.

Then her granddaughter told me something I'll never forget:

“We only know Bint Jbeil because of her.”

One woman had carried the love of a city across generations.

Bint Jbeil holds a history of sacrifice and resilience, but it is also a place of childhoods, familiar streets, and families whose memories deserve to live on.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one picture to bring an entire family home, if only for a moment.
