The Story Behind This Print

Arab Salim sits in one of those places where the geography itself tells you something about the village.

Part of Jabal Amel and only about 11 kilometers from Nabatieh, Arab Salim rises more than 600 meters above sea level, with its homes spread across a series of hills. From there, the village opens toward the surrounding Nabatieh area and, from parts of its landscape, all the way toward the sea.

It is also known as a gateway to Iqlim al Tuffah from the Nabatieh side, placing Arab Salim at a meeting point between the city and the villages that continue deeper into the South.

Below it runs the Zahrani River, fed by waters connected to Nabaa al Tasseh. Through its land pass streams, olive groves, valleys, pine and walnut trees, giving Arab Salim a relationship with water and greenery that has shaped the village for generations.

Even its name carries history. Sources preserve different explanations for its origin. One connects Arab Salim to an old Canaanite name recorded as Rab Salim, associated with peace. Another local tradition connects the village to Nabi Salim, whose historic shrine once stood there.
